I have on a number of occasions paid more for a gun than others thought it was worth. But then again, I wanted it and had the money. They too wanted it, but didn't have what I was willing to pay.
Every gun, for that matter everything I own is worth exactly what I was willing to pay for it and an willing to do to keep it.
If you like it, buy it. If you want it, buy it. If you can afford it, buy it. Never listen to the advice of someone who is interested in buying the "whatever" you are considering.

That is a reasonable price for a 714, as long as it is what you want. Recognize that it is a fixed sight, while the 6" lends itself to longer distance shooting with no option to adjust sights. I'm not talking you out of this gun, just understand what you are getting. I have 14-2 (blue version of yours) in 4" that I like a lot.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I like FloridaDWCollector's approach. Figure out what it's worth to you. If you can get it for that much or less and you can afford it, great. If not, keep looking and setting money aside till you find the one you want and can afford. For me, part of the fun is looking for the gun and then getting to shoot. Sounds like you found one you want. Good luck and pics please.

A very smart guy here will regularly point out that Value is what it's worth to you, Price is what it's worth to the other guy. Only one person in the world can decide the value.

well guys I went back up there today and haggled a little and got it for 325. They originally had it for 399 which i thought was over priced so I think I got a good deal. And the salesman said it was a nickel finish. How could I check this? And i need a wrench for the barrel any suggestions?

If he is saying bright nickel, it will be very shiny, satin nickel will be a matte finish. If it's sold as a 714, the "7" means stainless, BUT last year I bought a "714" that I know is a 14-2 that has been refinished. If you tore it down, you might see some evidence of refinishing.
Only one option for barrel wrench that makes any sense-EWK Technologies (see the right sidebar). DW original (plastic) wrenches leave a lot to be desired. Eric's wrench is the only way to go.

Whether it's nickel or stainless, I think you did good at that price. I would have snagged one up at that price if I ran across it locally. But I am partial to fixed-sight Dans.
