You know what? "Hosed" was probably the wrong way to put it, but there are several ways that that gun is not what the seller said it was. He does not exactly say that he is the original owner, but I don't think that gun came from the Monson factory the way it's pictured.
Not up to me to decide if it's worth $750.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I agree, this isn't a "hosed" situation. You saw what you wanted & went after it. Now if you like what you see when you get it in your hand, then hang onto it & enjoy it. If this gun doesn't speak to you (sorta like a lost puppy…or even as a cool 715), then put it back on the market with good pics & you may get your investment back…if not, well, then you've learned one of those wheelin'-dealin' lessons.
Myself, I've never sold a DW…in other words, I've never bought one I didn't like. And yes, I've overpaid on some, but love 'em just the same. No regrets.

OK I guess I will jump in. Looks like you got a nice 715 to me. Yes you paid a premium. Yes the sellers description was a little misleading. He may or may not have done that intentionally. If you like the gun enjoy it. As for feedback on the seller, well I would probably decide what feedback to list based on his attitude and professionalism (or lack of) when you called him. Just my two cents.

In spite of everything posted in this topic, I went back to the original post, and no, you are not wrong.
I think this gun was misrepresented, maybe intentionally, maybe not.
This is not a polished gun, it is a clean, factory 715, there is no polishing evident, it's just really clean.
I see no reason to think this is a 1987 Monson original case.
It looks like a really top line original Monson 715 in great shape, they ain't makin' guns like that anymore, so if it's right for you, then what others think does not really matter.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Well, here r some pics. Gun looks good and is a little shinier than my other 715/357. I added the EWK fiber optic sight.Problem is, after soaking in Kroil oil.I still can't get the bbl off.

Looks like it's in very nice condition to me. Maybe you paid a little on the high side, but just hang on to it and values will catch up soon I think. Meanwhile you have an awesome pistol that will give a lifetime of shooting.
To get the barrel off, first thing I would try is to take it to the range, shoot a dozen or so shots through it in a row and get the barrel warmed up good, then try to loosen the nut before the barrel cools. You definitely want an EWK barrel tool. This has worked for me on a pistol that probably didnt have the barrel removed for quite a long time.

I would not sell mine for less then a $1000 if I were to sell it now. I think it has about 60 rounds fired if that many. Anyway I had Eric D&T that 8" shroud, and I scoped it, but haven't had chance to go dial it in as yet. Between weather and being sick I haven't shot since first week of October.
