I thought I'd share this revolver with you guys.

At one point in time, Colt was experimenting with a Dan wesson style interchangable barrel system.

This is an experimental prototype that came right out of the Colt Vault.

Notice the pictures of the barrel end. Looks kinda wessony doesn't it ?

Gunkwazy,

Nice Cool Pics, thanks. Are you member # 1000?  Also, that's a nice crown on the barrel. I wonder if that could be done on DW barrels?

Some of the S&W Performance Center models use the tensioned barrel system as well. Owners are not given the option to remove and change barrels (no tool, no barrels/shrouds offered)

And, no he isn't 1000. That new guy is probably terrified to post, we're looking so hard for our Milestone Member

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks Jeff for posting that.  I think Colt fans are pretty much in the same boat as DW fans since neither of us are getting new production revolvers!  I did read somewhere that Colt was going to start producing Pythons again... but rumors are plentiful on the internet!

That thing looks really cool, too bad they didn't put those into production. Maybe it was because DW still held the patent on it?

Thanks for sharing theCool Pics it's a great looking gun.Cool

I had herd of a few smiths that were putting Dan Wesson barrels on S&W frames.  This is the first I had seen of Colt giving the interchangeable barrel system a try.  Very cool.

Thanks Jeff!

I just wonder how it shoots. Superdan, 788 and I have had serious discussions on ordering a Walther barrel and cutting it up. As we think the faster twist rate of Colt is what makes the Colt's have faster velocities. And on benching at 150 yards seems to achieve better flight time. Although Colt also runs a tapered bore, as this could be the answer too. Maybe one day when I win the lottery and have money to waste, Ill order one up and see if we are right.

Thanks guys.

As far as the Python coming back out. That rumor has recently been put to rest yet again.

The rumor (this time) started out as saying that Colt was going to have a NEW Python at this years (2010) Shot Show. Well, nothing was there and the Colt employees all confirmed they never heard that. So, we'll (Python fans) be waiting for the next rumor to fly.

As far as waiting to buy your first Colt due to sticker shock, I would expect you'll keep waiting as I don't see Colt prices crashing anytime soon.

****Also, One of the forum members PM'd me and asked why I didn't post some pics of my Colt's and I told him that this was a DW forum and I did not want to to stoned to death. I was then asked to post them in the Other Brands section.

So, I will have some of my Colt pics up there sometime later today if any of you guys like your guns with ponies & snakes on them.

Thanks again guys.
