Met with a nice fellow from arizonashooting this morning.  Commerce ensued.

Appears to be a model 14-2.  2" barrel. Came with the tools and an extra Packmayr grip.  Thought the fellow's asking price of $425 was certainly fair since he had the tools, and the snub barrels generally command a slight premium.

Interesting grip. Not your standard target stocks.  6-digit serial, 348XXX, Monson.  Any idea when it was made?

My wife has already claimed it as her new carry piece.

Probably made around 1980. Production of the small frames seems to have slowed down around then and the large frames and supermags became the rage. I had the same thing happen to my fixed sight dan. My wife confiscated it. She likes the Pachmyer rubber grip though. The round butt conceal grip is highly sought after. It commands a premium over most other grips except zebras. There is also a square butt conceal grip.  Your price was quite a good buy considering the condition, tool and grip.

Definitely, early 80's maybe as late as 83'. My dad and my pap would would'a called those service grips. For sure put me in mind of the smitty mod 36 grips that my SR's carried. Fine looking piece that your wife should be very happy to handle. Show it off a little more so we can get a good look at her..

Best guess on that is 1981, the grip looks a lot like what is called a "bird's head" style, I'm not sure what the DW description would be. Somewhere, I think I have a similar DW grip with a flat bottom, not so aggressively rounded off, but still a concealment type.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I believe DW called that grip an undercover grip. The flat bottom grip was the service grip.

That was the seller's pic.  I'll get some better pictures once I have some daylight.

Not only was the price fair, but the seller actually dropped it off at work for me, so I didn't even have to spend any gas on a meet-up.  big-grin

Found this one at my LGS. It's the first DW revolver I've EVER seen there.

I was wandering around, not really seeing much that interested me and spied a revolver in a holster on the counter. I asked the guy if I could look at it, thinking it was likely a DW. Once I saw it and the condition I asked if it was for sale. Yes, it was. Someone had JUST traded it. They had not even had time yet to enter it in their book and price it.

I paid $435 for it. I thought, considering the condition, it was fair and it would have been very difficult for me to leave the one and only DW revolver to have shown up there.
