I carry my 715-2 with a 21/2 vh barrel in a Simply Rugged Sourdough holster. I can carry it iwb or owb because the holster has optional straps that can be installed for iwb. I find iwb tends to conceal better, but owb is a quicker draw. I tend to carry this more in the winter and not all the time. My main carry gun is a S&W340PD. The 715-2 is way more shootable than the lightweight Smith but the Smith is way more comfortable to carry.

Not yet becuase it has only been 20% reliable thus far! Ill need to get it working and then make several problem free trips before i would consider it!
Ive had a conceal carry permit for 8 years now. 3 years ago i took theplunge and switched to oopen carry. Id say i do 99% open carry annything short of funerAls, weddings, etc ill revert to cc.
Open carry lets you pick almost any gun. Ive found paddle duty style holsters to be my favorite when available for the gun. For the dan wesson i just got i picked a Simply rugged cattleman and requested 1.5" drop built in. We will see how i like it once it arrives.
My open carry guns are pretty much anything that is really reliable and shootable (for me) with a powerful enough chambering. and of course according to the situation. Generally a 1911 but depending sometimes a 357/44 revoler or a 45 colt SAA.
I do feel bad for those who live places where open carry isnt welcome.

Yea ... florida is not an open carry state. We've even had sherrif's go so far to say if any open carry legislation is passed we will not honor it and open carry perps will be arrested . they think the end of the world will happen if open carry is passed -_-

Virginia has had people arrested. But the activistis at opencarry.org have really work hard over the past years and now it is mostly problem free. In the last three years i had one issue wherein the leo did not know the law. I asked him verry polietly to contact his supervisor to check and he did so and found i was legal and sent me on my way.
We do keep a list of friendly/unfriendly business. There a few large chains/malls that dont welcome open carry but many do. Starbucks, walmart, etc all allow it here!

I like to cc my model 15-2 2½ inch with the Pachmayr combat grip in a Don Hume 721 OWB in cooler weather. In fact… !

Get yourself a short frame Glock or a Ruger LCP. Put your Dan Wesson away for special occasions and build on your Pistol Pak. If your revolver is in great shape. If not, tote what you feel comfortable with. But what ever you carry, practice, practice, and practice some more. Be real about your defensive side arm. Don't just plink. And first and foremost do it safely.

Alabama is open carry, but not in vehicles... so you have to disarm every time you want to go anywhere, unless you've successfully begged for, and received, your CHL (may issue state).
I spend the day in the driver's seat, so there are some advantages and disadvantages. With a permit, I can find a place inside the car to stow a primary gun, and still be able to keep a smaller backup on my person for when I leave the vehicle. Interestingly enough, Alabama city folk are a mite squirrely about seeing a civilian who is properly prepared for self defense.
Even for that, however, my 6" VH barrel is a bit much to swing around inside the car. While I've really considered the 2.5 and a slimmer grip, I may meet it halfway with a 4 and the grip.
Competing with this is my XD.45acp with its 13+1 and a spare mag. Hard to beat that kind of firepower, but I like the versatility of the revolver, and I'd be more comfortable with relatively fragile low penetration defense ammo... in the first two or three chambers, and some heavier stuff after.
Wouldn't it be great if all wars could be fought just by the a-holes who started them?

I hate to say it I think thats the reaction your going to get anywhere you go.
Think about it. If you have a CWP and you are eating in a resturant and some dude comes in packing a hog leg. I would be a little nervous personally.

I suppose it depends where you are. If you see someone in Arizona wearing a Stetson, Tony Lama full quill ostrich boots and a Ruger Vaquero, you reckon he's just another jeep trail guide.

I'll go along with that. Back home in NM, I often carried my Super Blackhawk on my hip, and only once got any guff from anyone, and that was a woman from out of state who saw me in a local convenience store.
She approached a local police officer who was also there and demanded that he "do something!". He looked at my pistol and deadpanned, "Is it loaded?"
I replied "Yep"
He nodded and told the woman there wasn't any problem here.
*sigh* I miss those days.
edit: by the way, the last part of that quote with my name on it wasn't me. I'd be perfectly fine if someone walked in openly carrying a hogleg, so long as they weren't doing anything stupid with it.
