Also get ready it is gonna be loud... and factory 180gr loads are very impressive at night. I have several 2.5"/3" 44 mag revolvers and don't shoot too much factory ammo since I reload and tame them down for the snubs. I run 250gr cast thru mine and run them 850ish fps they are snappy but not abusive and they are accurate to boot.

I have a couple of EWK snubbies for my 44's, they do bark loudly and throw a lot of flame. Great conversation starter at the range. The gun is surprisingly well mannered even with the short barrel and accuracy out to 25 yds is very good. Probably farther too, but I never tried mine at anything longer.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

My cousin owned a snub Smith and Wesson model 29 several years ago and we shot it quite a bit with 44 specials. It was fun . But full house magnums were just too much in the lighter frame S&W. If you were not careful you would develop a "flinch". The bigger framed DW should not be as bad. Have fun. Try some Buffalo Bore 44 mag +P loads in it. " I triple dog dare you"! lol

My first time shooting a .44 Mag was also a S&W 29 snubby that my buddy loaded up with Buffalo Bore 300-gr. +P just for me ... what a guy. I could not get through one cylinder and set it down on the bench and backed away after only four shots. I still do not own a .44 Magnum.

I have owned two DW 44 Magnums. The first was immediately gifted to my son. The second one I really, REALLY tried to like, I just never got comfortable or enjoyed shooting .44 Magnum.
.357Mag (sometimes with some pretty outrageous reloads) is plenty for me!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I’m of the same opinion, even though my only experience with the caliber has been with my 629 5” with full underlug, and not a Dan.
For some time now I have been lusting after a Dan in 44 Mag, but a little voice keeps telling me that another .357 would be a lot more to my liking when I actually shoot it. I still might weaken if I see a really nice 44 with the right barrels at the right price, though.
