When talking to customers, one finds out there's some pretty interesting things going on! Sold a wrench to guy we got to talking and he said he had a Dan with Barney he was going to re-blue. I told him I thought that was not possible from what I heard! He said over the 30 years or so he has been doing re-bluing he has came up with a solution that turns "purple" guns to black. Said the Ruger M77's have the same problem of turning purple over time, did one about 10 years back and its still black as the day he reblued it! Here's pictures of the Dan they did, this one had rust issues, deep pitting. Ended up with a matte finish since the customer wanted a polished finish, high polish really brought out the pits, so it was toned down to a matte finish-

Hey Ed, The one in the pictures was done in the last week or so. I expressed my concern about it going back to purple as I heard that they don't stay black. That's when he said about the M77 and others that have stayed black. Definitely someone to talk to if ya' got a Dan with Barney.
