First off, almost all 744 shrouds are ported/vented, the key is if the BARREL is ported. 4VH is fairly uncommon, I'd like to get one and I'd pay $250 to get it (but I'm a cheapskate). 6VH is more commonly available, overall $550 for the pair is not so bad, 44 B/A's are harder to find.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

You can buy the two new from factory for $511 plus shipping, so unless they are new they are over priced in my book.
I have 6 & 8 VH barrels, and the 6" sure looks short, can't imagine what 4" would look like.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. I'm
assuming he meant ported barrels. I'm waiting for
a picture. I thought maybe ported barrels might be
worth more or something. I did notice the four inch
from CZ was out of stock. I was going to call them
and see when they would have them.
Did you get the email?
I can't say the price is out of line, collectors would love to have the 4" if it turned out to be a monson made assy. If your not after any specific markings then the norwich ones from CZ would probably be the best way to go. They have had a good reputation for QC. good luck! pops

CZ owns DW but they are still different operations. Call DW directly and save yourself some grief. The info is on the right of the screen under FAQ's Where can I order parts?

Make sure you call DW, if none on hand they will make you what you want and it will be in your hand in two weeks or less. Call CZ they might tell you to call DW or might tell you to leave a number or something.
I keep forgetting about guys wanting collector period BA's for making up kits, from my experience the new barrel shrouds seem better finnished. I had bought a used 6" BA and threw the barrel away due to accuracy and key hole problems. CZ had new SS barrels for $9 and I bought 3 and ended up selling one to someone here and currently using the spare with a spare 357 shroud to shoot with 6" barrel on my new 22V4 I got couple months ago. Funny how scope set for 357 shoots to same point at 25 yards as 22 LR does.

Actually, ported BARRELS are a real PITA. In a DW you are much better off with non-ported barrels from a shooting/cleaning/maintainability standpoint

Man that's a fact, I fired the ported barrel of my 744 a few times after buying to just see how it was. Well I ordered the new barrel about 20 minutes after cleaning the gun and then myself after that mess. I would give it away but decided to keep for possible collector value, actually I think I would toss it before wishing it on some unsuspecting shooter.
