I have a few extra barrel assemblies for my Dan's and I'm curious how other members store their extra shrouds/assemblies to avoid rust. I wipe mine down with a light coat of CLP and then wrap them in a silicone gun sock. If I haven't used them, I take them out every 4-6 months and give them a good wipe down and re-wrap them. They are stored in a safe with a dehumidifier and several packets of descant thrown round. Is there a better way? I'm sure that there are different ways.

I add some "NOX-RUST VAPOR WRAPPER" to almost all the metal stuff I have (guns, parts, dies, etc.).

I had some barrels that I poorly prepped to store, just padded them a bit and then put into a bubble shipping envelope.  I had a bit of rust on a couple of barrels after several years.  All the other stuff I'd stored after being oiled or Rig-greased, and wrapped in the vapor papers, gun socks, etc., came through just fine.  I had most of my guns in ZCOR bags for long term storage.

Wipe it down with an oil rag, then place it on a piece of doubled-over wax paper.  Spray it down with some Remoil, wrap it up, and mark it with a Sharpie.  Then slide it in a piece of mesh net sleeving.

Thanks for that advice DakotaJack. Now if you could just devote a week or two to wrap my stuff I would appreciate it.

I don't open my windows or leave doors open. Air or heat is always on. Rem oil and non corrosive paper is insurance. I also use silicon impregnated gun socks . When I get an old blue gun I polish with Flitz and wax with carnuba auto wax.
