Greetings all, it has been a while since I have had a chance to post here.  I finally got some time to get out and shoot my 15-2.  It shoots great!  It will take me some time to get used to a six gun as most of my background is in rifles and pistols, but that is the fun of it.

I was looking to get an 8” Heavy Vent barrel it, but when looking at the CZ sight it says that the blued version is $374, but he stainless version is $259!  Does that make sense?

I also have a question.  Since Dan Wesson’s have the unique feature of being able to adjust the barrel gap, has anyone tried to see if various gaps make much difference in velocity?  The kit that I bought came with the .006” feeler gauge, but since my revolver is not for duty use, I have the gap set a .0015” on the tightest chamber.  I have fired 30 rounds without any trouble with this setting.  I was just curious if increasing the gap makes much difference.  I would try this myself, but I don’t have a chronograph.  Thanks for your thoughts.

Barrel gap definately makes a difference on velocity--question is, is it enough to worry about if you are just punching paper...?  Maybe-- each gun has it's own harmonics and likes different velocities.  Find the gap that works best for you and stick with it.  Most DW guys run a tighter gap than the .006

I use mine for hunting and don't need to worry about tight gaps and cylinder binding because I only need one shot, and I'm usually shooting jacketed bullets.  Velocity is everything to a handgun hunter--we need knockdown power besides accuracy.

Hey Quincy,

Although I haven't checked this I would think you would see some difference in velocity but not sure how much.  A lot of folks here set them tighter than .006 on the tightest chamber.  The only issue I have encountered doing this is that I need to wipe the cylinder face from time to time since the residue buildup causes it to bind.

Welcome back!

Personally I use .002 on all of my Dan's and have never had an issue of any kind.

.002-.003 for me as well, rarely have any problems. the only issues i've had is when I'm shooting Unique or some other really dirty powder and it's usually after quite a few rounds

Thanks for the quick replies.  I figured some difference in velocity.  Someday when I get a chronograph, I'll have to see how much.  I am always suprised how little difference barrel length seems to matter from what I have read, maybe 100 fps for every 2", that bullet must really accelarate for the first 2" of travel!

Any thoughts on the cost of the barrels from DW, or is it maybe just a misprint on their website.

Blue or Stainless, the price is the same. You may have seen a shroud only for one of your prices

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
