hey guys i own a model 15 357 that came with the 6" & 8" barrels, i recently purchaced a barreless SS DW 357 off the Canadian Gun Nutz website assuming it was a 715.
i just got off the phone with the RCMP checking on the transfer, they have it on their paperwork as a 714......will my spare barrel and shroud fit????
there are few DW in Canada, and spare parts & barrell are pretty much unobtainium, the paperwork and expence of importing them is prohibitave.
what is the differance between the model 15 and 714 other than finish?

Yes they will fit. The shrouds will work either way although there are slight profile differences and sight height differences which may affect poi/poa. EWK makes a sight to use a 15-2 shroud on a 14-2 so I believe that would fix your sight issue. You will have sort of a hybrid but it should be totally functional. If you look around the forum enough you can probably find a picture of a 15-2 shroud and a 14-2. Now I assumed that when you said model 15 you just dropped the -2. If yours is a pork-chop you have a problem. I will see if I can find some pics.

yes a -2, non pokrchop, phfew! i feel better now! a hybrid is A ok with me, like i said trying to order parts is a b!tch, EWK doesnt ship outside the U.S., in these tough times you would think they would explore other markets, Canada has alot of bussiness they are turning their back on!
i am still trying to source parts/barrels if you know of anyother US suppliers please let me know.
i should check with brownells, they ship parts under $100 to Canada, but i dont know if they will ship barrels.
is the 714 a smaller frame than the 15-2?

714 is the same frame size as 15-2.
A 15-2 is a blued .357 magnum with adjustable rear sight. A 14-2 is the same frame but a fixed rear sight. 715 is the same frame size in stainless with adjustable rear sight, and 714 is stainless with a fixed rear sight. Fixed sight models have a shorter front sight, if you cant buy one I am sure it would not be difficult to make one or have one made locally.

I use a few 715 shrouds on my model 714 Dan Wesson revolver. I have posted this picture before, but maybe it will help clear things up for you some.
The top barrel assembly pictured is a 6 inch 715 Barrel assembly, with a standard 715 front sight blade installed. My 714 shoots too low with the tall 715 front sight blade installed in the shroud.
The middle barrel assembly mounted on the revolver in the picture is a 4 inch 715 barrel assembly with an EWK Model 14 Conversion Front Site installed. It shoots right to point of aim.
The bottom barrel assembly in the picture is a 2.5 inch 714 barrel assembly with the original model 714 front sight blade on the shroud.
Since the front sights are easily changed on the shrouds using the barrel/wrench combination tool, you can quickly swap out front sights, and use model 715 shrouds on a 714 Dan Wesson.
You can also purchase the EWK conversion front sights, if you want to put a 715 shroud on a model 714. They are called Dan Wesson Model 14 Conversion Front Sight Blade's on the EWK web page. I bought a few for $9.99, but unfortunately they are currently out of stock.
I use the EWK model 14 conversion sight's, and they work quite well. I find the conversion sight to be extremely convenient when putting a 715 barrel shroud on my model 714 revolver, with it's lower (non-adjustable) fixed rear sight.
