Good Morning All,
I picked up a blue 6inch 44mag as a project gun and need to locate a shroud. I have checked Ebay, EWK, and other with no luck so far. I'd prefer not to buy a new one from DW because this gun is going to have to be blued anyway. As a result, I have two questions.
1. Are the shrouds all the same size? By that I mean, could i use the shroud off a 357 barrel? As simple yes or no works as I understand how the assembly attaches, i just do not know if the shrouds are universal.
2. Does anyone have a parts gun where they would be willing to sell the shroud.
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance reading my post. I recently completed an 8 inch 44 mag project including scope mount and parts that killed deer this past hunting season. The information from this forum was a tremendous help.

A woman I bought a 357 barrel assembly from over a year ago is selling a used 10" blued 44 mag barrel assembly. Has some rust. Only asking $80 plus shipping.
I helped her offload a bunch of nice barrel assemblies to fellow members over a year ago. Her dad used to be a big DW buff and also a gun shop owner. She hasn’t bumped the ad since January so I don’t know if it’s still available. I can message her if you’d like?

My bobber wiggled on the post by Andrew1220. I've thought off and on about getting a "less than perfect" shroud and having it drilled and tapped for a scope mount...it would be the first time I scoped any handgun. I would not want to remove a good-great condition shroud from the market and not available to a Dan Fan for such a project.
$80! Sign me up...slow down...warning buzzer going off. As I look at those pics I wonder if that barrel is rusted to the shroud. Near as I can tell all pics show the barrel and shroud in the same position relative to each other. It's an early shroud with the porting and if shot with the ported barrel the shroud would need to have been cleaned "often" to keep things in good shape. I avoided this on mine by never shooting the ported barrels.
Any one ever remove a rusted in place barrel from a shroud?

I agree that barrel is probably not rusted to the shroud. I picked up a gun that looked like it had been tied to a string and pulled behind a truck. Nice long soak and shroud came off just fine. I will try to organize pictures of that before and after project. No reason why not to make a scoped shooter if you want something to tinker with. I asked Andrew to see if that barrel assembly is still available. There is no reason why not to put it to good use if she still has it to sell.

.44 Mag barrel / shroud assembly in the link provided is a S&W not DW.
Huh? It says Dan Wesson Arms on the shroud....
OK, when I hit the link it opens a page with a S&W .44 Barrel / Shroud advertised. I have to scroll up to the top to see the DW .44 barrel assembly. I see it now.
I need a 12 year old to hold my hand and stand by when I start using the computer.
