I just bought a Dan Wesson revolver, Monson, with multiple barrels. It was from an estate sale and appears never to have been fired, not even a cylinder line. When trying to remove the 6" barrel I found the retaining nut solidly frozen. The multi-purpose wrench that came with it was not up to the job. I ordered one from EWK (it's in the mail) that may be more substantive and I have oiled the nut. Next stop a Kroil soaking. But will Kroil harm the finish on the shroud or cause other problems? Any suggestions?

Kroil will not harm anything. There are many "'favorite" solutions to your problem. Others will chime in and you could search the forum and find more info.
You are on the right track. Also try some heat with a hairdryer after soaking for a day or two. Put the frame in a well-padded vise in order to work on the nut. It helps keep you from slipping and messing up the nut or the finish.
Good luck.

Once you get it off see if you can find some "Never Seeze", I have been using the "gold" colored for ever & have never have it let the nut/bolt bind up.
I had the same barrel on my 6" since I bought it & only take it off once a year. You can use it on the breech & the muzzle end.
You can probably scrounge a thumbnail-sized blob from someone you know & that's a lifetime supply.
