I just did a whoops.  I bought a 2/12" and a 4" .357 barrel and shroud for my "nickel" project, received them and then realized I did not pay too much attention to what I bought.  The front sights are low and black without the colored inserts.  They are also non vent, I must have been 90% asleep when looking at them.  Anyway, what model were these shrouds with the low black sights to belong to?  Model 14 is my guess.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I think those low black front sights are for patridge sights on the Silhouette Series-

My fixed sight/porkchop shroud model 14 has the blued & serrated front ramp

I don't see anything wrong with just switching them out with standard ramp sights. Or even painting them a high contrast color ex:orange.

Hope this helped you Supermagfan

From what I can tell, the 14's have short fixed sights. If yours are short removeable sights, they're probably the patridge style Yung Josh is describing.

I think this calls for some Cool Pics  If not for any other reason, than just to see these new shrouds.Laugh

I have an early 15-2 Pistol Pac with non-vented standard barrels and all front sights are non-changeable.

Thanks for all the help on this.  I did look at the barrel shrouds along side my standard 15-2 barrels with colored sights and the pins that engage the sights are at different locations meaning they are not the same shroud.  I will be listing these for sale when i get them photographed as I have nothing to put them with.

In the January 1986 article I just posted on DWCA it stated that the service models had fixed front sights.  Just thought I would share that...

Give us the first shot at them, I have the service model 14 and could use a 4" barrel and shroud. I bought a 2.5" but am having to grind down the front sight due to being too high. I got beat out of a modwl 14 2.5" shroud on E-bay I was just going to get for the sight, they seem impossible to come by.

I will most certainly, they are both new unused no boxes.  I must find time with the camera.

I may be interested in them too. Where did you buy the barrels?

SMF.. I wonder if you were blind.. or if it was mis labeled..

I saw a barrel for a 15-2 label that way and it really looks like it should be

for a model 14.. you tell me.. here is the link..

I may have misunderstood the OP- are the front sights interchangeable or fixed? The item Wayne has posted looks like a standard 15-2 shroud with a patridge blade in place of the more common colored insert front (I think you can just make out the pin that the rear of the site base locks into).

If the front sight is fixed, it is probably for a 14, I think.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I think it is too high for a 14. They have a lower ramp type.

I agree with above.  The sights on my barrels look a bit different.  I'll be able to get all of yours opinions as soon as i get the photographed to put on here.

My model 14 has a small pin that goes across the sighting platform and the sight blade itself.
