Aside from slugging the barrel and miking the slug I'm not aware of a quantitative inspection for handgun bores. Typical inspection is visual check for pitting or erosion and sharpness of lands. Reality is that a barrel is shot out when accuracy begins to deteriorate which is normally 20,000+ rounds of high pressure/ high velocity loads to 50,000+ of cast. A few competitive shooters may get that high but not an average user - not like a service rifle deployed in combat. Suspect you will find that your revolver will shoot itself loose long before barrel wear becomes an issue.

I have never seen a Dan Wesson barrel visibly worn or 'shot out'. That's not to say they don't get that way but it's not a common issue. The best part of a Dan is the customer removable barrels. Should you get one that is shot out, it's a simple job to replace the tube. Dan Wesson in Norwich still makes barrel tubes for all the calibers, just give them a call, takes couple weeks or so for them to build you one. Prices aren't bad for just barrel tubes. Also, EWKArms.com makes barrel tubes for 357 and 44/445SM as well.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Thx 🙂
Seems to me one could make a set of gauges, which would be just a piece of steel the 'right' diameter of the smaller lands, maybe 5 altogether. They'd be inserted in the forcing cone side I assume as that's where the most wear would be. That way we'd have a gauge for new, almost new, 10k rnds, 20k, and we-don't-know-why-it-still-shoots-straight. 5 altogether.
Not everyone would want to buy all 5, but, maybe 2 to check out barrels b4 buying.
Thoughts ?
Maybe new barrels are cheap enough so it doesn't matter ?
Are EWK barrels still available ? I see the 357's are sold out in all sizes.
