Why would anybody bob the hammer?
How hard is it to find a replacement? Thx.

No additional pics yet but the seller did respond to say there was some flame etching but that it wasn't bad. Pics are to follow.
I just spoke with Dan Wesson Firearms. The stainless hammer is available, $40.95 plus shipping. They can do the work. They won't give a firm price over the phone but said it usually runs about $85 labor. So, I figure a repair there will cost about $200 with the shipping both ways included.
If somebody here wants it, don't let my interest stop you. I'm trying to figure out if the hassle and price factors are worth having a supermag when I will only rarely shoot it as a supermag. Still, a stainless SM would be so cool!

Personally, I don't think you need to pay to have the hammer replaced. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. However, guys take their Dan's apart all the time. I don't see the big deal of putting it back together with a new hammer.
But that's just me. What do I know. I've never taken mine apart.

I've never installed a "Factory fresh" hammer, but I still hand fit the mating surfaces of any used ones I buy (like my bobbed 14-2--Love the Bob !)...
I'm sure a factory replacement hammer is straight off the production line and would require at a minimum a little work to function smoothly.
