I just bought a barrel/shroud assy from CZ-Dan Wesson after waiting 3 weeks

finally received it last night. The 2.5 inch looked great I figured it would look even better  on my 715. The barrel would only screw in about a quarter inch and on my 714 only a couple threads . Is this normal for new to old parts ? Should I just order a new barrel from EWK?

It should fit.  I would talk to CZ-Dan Wesson to see if they will clean up the threads for you.

I bought new barrels from CZ/DW for my 744 and 722 (both Monson's).  I was not impressed with the quality of the barrel tubes.  Rough outside surface and the bores were dirty.  I'm not sure if they were test fired or used.  They fit onto my frames and the shrouds looked great.

I second seeing if CZ will take take of it for you. smile

The barrel should work on any of the Dans unless there is something messed up with the frame threads or if the barrel threads are messed up. I would say its rather unlikely the frame threads have something wrong with them since the barrel won't screw into either of your Dans.

Interesting on the CZ barrels Hoss!

I agree send it back.  i snagged a few from CZ they all seemed well made and fit good.  Though all were SS.

EWK's fit fine, so snag a few from him when they come back!

Thanks guys, I had talked to the folks I ordered it from CZ-USA not DW I learned

that althought DW is own by CZ they are separate. CZ-USA turned me over to

DW who where not happy with the problem. It seems DW sells the parts to CZ-USA to sell in there online store. ( when I bought it online I thought I was buying from DW.) When I left for work they were working it out( I hope).

I have several .357 barrels I tried 5 in the 715 they worked find. This forum

is the best to get information.

That's an odd thing.

I wonder if there is a burr in the new barrel threads...or...if maybe it was just threaded for the wrong caliber frame?

This isn't the first time this has happened.  I remember the first time a bunch of us bought SS 22 barrels some of them would not screw into frame far enough.  CZ made good on all of them though.

Somebody out there with a sloppy frame will need one of those oversize barrels someday.

Well I received a new shrould/barrel assy from CZ-USA to replace the one

I was having trouble with (above posts). The bad new is with that barrel it is

the samething. Just to double check to make sure the problem was not on my

side I recleaned the gun, lubed the barrel before trying it.Still no go. I will call

CZ-DW (NY) Monday. Also it will PM EWK and order a barrel from him. One more thing I will do is see my shooting/ hunting buddy and have him check out

the gun and new barrel to see just what the problem is.( he is a master machinist).

That sounds good Glenn, would be glad to get a 2.5" to you, which I should have more of soon!

I bet the gages they are using to check the barrels are worn, and while it fits the gage, it won't fit a non worn frame.

So it would technically be a different thread if that is the case of what's going on.

Thanks for the kind words Adam42! laugh

I went over to my friend 's house Sunday afternoon with my 715vh6 and the new shroud/barrel assy. He mike the old and new barrrels and checked the frame . It look like the new barrel is slightly larger in diameter than old barrel. There is a very slight taper on the old that is not on the new one. I will call CZ-USA or CZ-DW this and work things out. EWK I will go to your site and order a 2.5 ss barrel after I talk to them.
