Well the simple man's bucket list is back down to one!  I have purchased a Lit' Dan 38 Spl. made in Plamer.  The gun has a fixed barrel.  One thing that surprised me is when I broke it down for cleaning and lube there was no ejector rod bushing. I don't know if it left the factory this way or the previous owner lost the bushing?  There is no play in the rod or cylinder so this may not be a problem.  R Sdwf-sign

Your bucket is still empty laugh.... That is a model 8 (it is blue--correct?)  Looks to be in nice shape though.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

A model 8 is not very common, finding one with a fixed barrel is even less common & then that funky serial number just made me go...wow drool  Let us know what's up with that s/n, I'm curious.

That's quite a catch, nice work!occasion

Yes I played with the SN.  last three numbers.  Model 8?  What model is considered a Lit' Dan?  I am truly the dumb bunny on this forum!  The good news is I purchased the gun on condition and caliber and that it was a Plamer Dan Wesson.  As a shooter first and a collector last I am very happy with this gun.  Clueless but Happy.  Maybe I should change my log in name to that?  R Sembarassedscrewylaughing

The Li'l Dan is a model 738 (stainless only).  It is a 5-shot with removable BA and is built on a totally different frame.  The model 8 is blue, 6-shot and built on what is basically an early evolution of the small frame.

I guess you could call the Li'l Dan frame the "mini-frame"? smile

That sure seems to be a nice one though.

I have never seen a blued Li'l Dan (model 38P) but I remember a gun shop in Prescott having one advertised about 13 years ago, and the manual for the Li'l Dan lists both the model 38p and 738p on the cover.

So... they might exist.

For making a mistaken purchase you sure made a good one !

I believe some members who already have Lil Dans are still searching for

model 8's to complete their collections.

Congrats occasion

The one you saw advertised was likely a snubby 15-2, or similar. Most sellers out there have a hard time with the DW model terminology. If it was a blued 5-shot, then absolutely yes it should be a 38p.

Even though they list a blued model on the manual, I'm not sure if they ever got around to making some. If they did, they are sure an elusive little bugger, because nobody around here has seen one in yet in captivity.laugh

If I'm not mistaken they (Dan Wesson) listed the 45 Colt on the user's manual several years before they finally made it to market.  As with so many things DW we can't be sure if any were made or not.
