For making a mistaken purchase you sure made a good one !
I believe some members who already have Lil Dans are still searching for
model 8's to complete their collections. Thanks Blacktop.
This has been a strange month. Guns I have been searching for years have fallen in my lap. It's getting where I am almost afraid to look on GB, almost! I just purchased a Model 11.
Although I did think the Model 8 was a little Dan. Not being one would not have changed my buying the gun.. I am becoming a fan of the Palmer guns.
On a serious note I am blown away by the members knowledge of all things Dan.
I would be interested if anyone could tell me why Dan Wesson made both fixed barrel and BA's for the Model 8? My gun seams to be dedicated to a carry gun format.
And no Shoot my bucket is not empty. It's up 2 which I guess is a good thing. Thanks everyone for your responses. R S

The Li'l Dan is a model 738 (stainless only). It is a 5-shot with removable BA and is built on a totally different frame. -Mike
I have never seen a blued Li'l Dan (model 38P) but I remember a gun shop in Prescott having one advertised about 13 years ago, and the manual for the Li'l Dan lists both the model 38p and 738p on the cover.
So... they might exist.
I stand corrected. I know better; I just temporarily lost consciousness, I guess.

If I'm not mistaken the fixed barrel guns were introduced to try to appeal to more buyers. I also believed they charged a little less for them as well to try to compete with the likes of Ruger and S&W.

Wow.. I sured learned something wit this thread. OK so do tell:
how does one tell the difference between the Model 8 and a Model 14-2? They so much much alike. Do we have a break out on these in the models area? Now I want one.
PS: great looking gun you go there.. and yeah I was fooled by the SN...
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.

I believe the only difference will be the caliber marking on the shroud (which we know can be swapped) and the depth of the cylinder. 357 cartridges will not chamber in a model 8 or 9.
Somebody correct me if I missed.

LB is right, the 8 & 9 are chambered only for .38 Spl. Otherwise, they are the same as a 14-2 & 15-2.

Jody's been working on adding more to that, but we need more pics to help complete it. THIS THREAD was meant to gather pics for the Models page, but sort of got off to a rough start & derailed a bit. Any new entries are always welcome.
