I doubt anyone on this forum knows me, but I have built quite a few crazy guns in my time and plan to whip up an AR-15 or AK in .414 Supermag.  I have built 100's of AR's in many different large bore calibers including .44 Rem Mag, as well as AK's in .444 Marlin and .375JDJ.

I am fairly confident I can pull off a .414 Supermag on the AR platform.  I plan to use the same bolt and barrel design that I used on the 44 Rem Mags back in 2000, but instead of using re-configured 44 Desert Eagle magazines, I will use a DE .41 magazine, section it lengthwise and stretch it to fit the longer supermag case.

Another option is to take a Saiga-410 shotgun and rebarrel it to .41 SM.  Those are already set up to feed a rimmed case, albeit the larger 444 case.  Either way, I'll figure something out.

Now that will be a unique project! Like Harly said we would love to see pics of this build and give us updates on it. Several 414 Supermag lovers here on the forum.

It will take some time to get a chamber reamer and barrel blank, but once that is in hand, it shouldn't take more than a day to build it.

Anyone know the barrel twist on the .414 pistol?  I'll probably slow it down around 1:25 for the rifle though.

When I was building AR's in .44 Auto Mag, .44 Rem Mag, and 440 Corbon, they shot best with a 1:25 - 1:38 twist.  1:38 was just a hair too slow for some 300 grain bullets though.

Greetings

Have been shooting a 414 SM in a converted Marlin/ Glenfield 336 for some months now.

A 255 grain Ranch Dog GC can be pushed to 1950+ fps cronographed with a healthy dose of 1680.  I seat to the first grease groove as that cycles best in the 336 action.  Also picks up another bit of case capacity.

Had not considered an AR in 414 SM.  Has a nice thought to it.

Looking forward to your project results. I look forlonly to converting single shot rifles for this cartridge as I gave up long ago ever having a 7414 grace my collection.  DW41F.
