So I know with K frame Smiths that the hot, light .357mag can be a bit brutal (torquing frames ... cutting top straps).

So should I use the heavier bullets in my 14-2? Or is the DW more "L/N-Frame" tough (or even "Ruger" tough)?

A 14-2 is in the tough as nails category Wink  No worries with loadings with any model of Dan Wesson.  Though if you plan to load your own, and load them hot, I would recommend you set the barrel gap a close a possible.  This to reduce the chance of flame cutting the top strap.  The 14-2 can shoot any factory load out there.

It's really going to depend on your grip hold and where you print.  The key to getting a fixed sight gun to hit POA is different weight bullets.  If you hit low, load heavier bullets--they will hit higher.

Here's an ariticle on the fact : http://www.lasc.us/RangingShotDWLittlestMagnum.htm

About half way down Author states :

"To illustrate just how strong these guns are, Seth Wesson once told me how, as an experiment, he took a small frame 357 Mag model, replaced the barrel with a solid steel rod, and loaded it with a proof cartridge (100,000 psi +). The gun was then fired remotely in a test chamber. Not only did the gun survive, but functioned normally afterwards with no damage what so ever. Now that’s what I call tough."

I personally would love to see that done, just not my gun of course.
