Hello Folks,
My Monson DW 44 is failing to rotate the cylinder into position during single action firing. The fault is becoming more frequent. A little nudge with my finger tip finishes the motion, at which time the hammer is free to complete its motion too. Is this a cleaning issue or is the hand wearing?
I have a call in to Keith at CZ/DW, who is on leave until 01/05. If he takes the gun for a trigger job I'll ask him to address this issue too. But if I can correct it before I ship it I would be happier.
Thanks, Tom

Sounds like it very well could be dirty inside, these 20-30 year old revolvers can be in need of a good cleaning sometimes.
Are you sure the gap between the cylinder and barrel is not too close? Also be sure the grip screw is not screwed in so far as to impede travel of the hammer. I apologize if you are up to speed on these 2 items but they are quite possibly the 2 most common sources of function issues in Dan Wesson revolvers and easily corrected.
That said, if you send it in to Norwich for service, I can highly recommend their talents.

The cylinder gap appears to be fine. With the hammer partially retracted the cylinder spins freely.
When the cylinder is open, the single action function is fine; there is no binding or stiffness. When the cylinder is closed, the hammer binds on the carry up. But then I put a few drops of Eezox on the spindle, spun the cylinder a couple of times to loosen the grime, and now there is no binding in single action. Cool! Thanks fellows, problem solved.
Take care, Tom

Glad it worked, just remember that your DW may be telling you that it needs a good internal Clean up!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
