This just dropped into my lap...not sure if I'm going to get it yet, but figured the pic was worth posting.  A model 714 with two barrels--and it looks to be in good shape...

That's not surprising, considering your track record.poke   Laugh

I bet that 8VH barrel is from a M15 & that the other one laying there is original to the gun. Just because of the removable front sight & I haven't heard of any M14's with a VH shroud. Just my guess.Smile

I fully agree on the model 15 barrel… When the guy told me he had a 8″ VH with fixed sights, I told myself "no you don't…"  Someone screwed that barrel on there.

But, I'm thinking that frame would look good with my SS 10" vented/scoped barrel....

You do have another option, You can ask superdan to install a rear sight on it. He has done this on a fixed sight gun before. He will most likely shoot me with it when he is finished, as he loves it when we volunteer him for work…LOL.Mad

You are right, it would look great, and if you sent me the VH8 barrel and shroud it would look even better.poke

Nope--there's never a reason to start chopping on a perfectly good 714 when I have a 715 already 🙂

I'm sure you could move that VH8 barrel and shroud if you don't wait it as well!  Nice looking 714.  You don't see them very often...

I'm most likely going to put a heavy, vent 6" on it.  That's my favorite configuration. I will definitel do the trigger work that's discussed in a separate topic.  My Taurus model 669 just became a hand-me-down for my oldest daughter.

***EDIT*** check out my NEWEST newest find ;) ….

So it's another day at the gun show, and I'm hauling around two 15-2's to sell….  So of course the last thing I expected to do was spend $550 on another 15-2 Screwy… but, it happened...( Yes, you read it right … $550…).  So here she is — basically a mint 15-2 in the original foam carton with no cardboard outer….

Image Enlarger

"but SHOOT– it's just a 15-2…?"

Yea, but it came with these two cool custom fit holsters for DW's….

Image Enlarger

"but still….?"

Yea, but there's more… it came with this cool little leather pouch to hang on your belt…

Image Enlarger

"what the hell are you going to do with a crappy little pouch?"

That's exactly what I thought until the seller handed it to me…. :)

Image Enlarger

Hey… there's an extra barrel in thereWOW…wait a minute…. it a LONG barrel…..

Image Enlarger

In fact– it is a 10VH barrel roflroflrofl….UNFIRED !!!occasion…..

So, it wasn't exactly aGTDW, and I don't need the 15, or the holsters, but the pouch and the 10VH are too cool to pass up–so I opened the wallet and the rest is history….

Well, here she is….We'll call her Frankenstein :)   It is a model 714 frame, has model 715 barrels, and the box is from a 44 mag barrel….Screwy

When I picked up the feeler gauge (automotive) I could tell something wasn't right… After closer inspection, I found that the .006 gauge was in fact stuck to the .007 gauge behind it WOW… I hope nobody used this .013 gap for shooting !!!

Another interesting note — the checkering on the grips is pressed in stead of cut–I've never seen a pressed DW grip before.  And the grip medallions are silver.
