Checking a small gun store I found...
1) a Blued 44 Caliber 6" VS Dan. Wood grips. It was in pretty darn good shape. No scratches or dings and the deep blue color was the same through out. No box or anything else. $375
a) edit... on the Shroud there were two small rectangular ports about 1" back from the end
of the muzzle. Is that Factory?
b) How about the ammo what cartridges will this handle? Easy to reload, availability?
2) a 357 15-2 SV blued, Target grips with light scratches on the left side plate and wear not bad though. It had an 8", 6",and 4" BA's. The GS owner was saying it was a pac. I didn't press the issue but it did have styrene packaging with a wrap around cardboard product sleeve. No suitcase. He had some paper with it, the Ad flyer and a price list. He wanted $650
Any comments on prices and how to proceed with the art of the deal?
Now, what I am really looking for is a 15-2 that needs some TLC. Something I can clean up and refinish and get good at doing it.

Both are good deals. If I had to get one, it would be the 44 but that's just me. The porting is factory and if the barrel is ported as well, you really have to be vigilant with cleaning as the gas, copper, lead, powder, crud is vented into the shroud. I have ported shrouds but use standard barrels to prevent a stuck shroud.
My favorite offer with guns that are priced fairly is to try to get some ammo thrown in with the deal or offer to buy at the asking price but "out the door"- no tax.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

An otherwise functional 15-2 V with 4/6/8 for $650 is a GREAT deal. Not a Pack unless it's in a case, but still a darn good deal.
Model 44 in 6V for $375 is also a sweet deal, you can shoot .44 Spec and .44 Mag, and the barrel porting on a DW is driven by the barrel being ported, not the shroud.
Your opportunity might be to offer $900, all in and out the door.
If I could get a 15-2V in 4/6/8 and a Model 44 6V for under $1000, I find a way!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Yep I say either one is a good deal. If it was me I would try to get both for about $900 but I have a sickness
If you want a 15-2 to tinker with, buy that one. At that price if you sell 2 of the barrels on GB you will end up with a nice cheap 15-2.

Well I pulled the trigger on both the 44 and 357 today. Bought both at $950 out the door.
Thanks for the tips guy's.
Just ordered a lg barrel wrench from Eric and starting to look for a suitable grip.
Any suggestions on a grip for a hand cannon?

I love those small gun shops and pawn shops. Most of the time there's nothing interesting. Then sometimes, you can find some real gems; totally unexpected; usually priced well and sometimes a real deal!

Here's a quick pic of the latest acquisition...
Top one is the 44 it's in really nice shape. The grip hasn't fared as well as the steel. No biggie tho...
The 357 set is in much better shape than I thought. Better than the first 357 I picked up.
Both of these in the same place at the same time. Divine providence?

You did well on that score, way to go!Looking at the 15-2, I would guess that the 6" BA is probably original to the gun & the other two were acquired by the previous owner at a later date. I could always be wrong though, it's just my pre-coffee guess this morning.
The styrene box lists the four inch as original. The 4" and 8" are vented. The 6" is standard and has the older style pinned front site. No scratches or pitting and just a tad of blue missing on the 8" at the left side of muzzle. For some reason I left out the gap shim and package when I took the picture.
The 44 has no wear marks on the bluing. The grip has a chunk missing right behind the trigger guard. I'm gonna round that out for now. What I would like is to have LB fashion a early 15-2 target grip for this 44 or somehow adapt one. It seems to be more to hang on to and I like that on the 22 and 357.

I thought the front sight on the 6" looked out of place right away too. A non-colored insert on that front sight would have been out of place on the revolver that originally came in that box.
You got some pretty good stuff there!

Just got back from up north. First thing I did was get the mail from my daughter and among the packages was an EWK barrel wrench for the 44.
You guys are great with the info ya'll provide.
First, the barrel nut came loose with ease. Yeah way to go!
Second, the barrel has been changed to one with no ports drilled.
If Eric ever stamped EWK on the barrels I would know if this barrel was one of his. Looks new.
The frame has got the plum hue to it in sunlight. No pits or scratches.
Some evidence of being fired. By that I mean a very, very light line on the strap from cutting.
