Here's an example of someone totally unclear of the concept...I just hope the gun wasn't actually shot this way. It doesn't appear to have been.

Not so long ago I saw photo's on another Forum of a guy that amputated his fingertip at the first joint by gripping a friend's S&W .500 incorrectly and laid his finger right along the b/c gap. The shooter was primarily a 1911 shooter with a real "finger forward" grip. Ugly!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Hey Guys,
New forum member here, just picked up my 1st revolver, a Dan Wesson model 40. last year I bought my 1st hand gun, Kimber 1911 SS target in 9mm, I’ve since acquired a few more 1911's, my favorites is my Dan Wesson .45ACP Pointman 7.
I have not shot the SupperMag yet as I'm waiting till I get some SupperMag loads, I just did not want to push .357 mag or .38 special through it till I 1st ran it with some proper amo. I was real glad to see this post, not that any of my digits come any where near the cylinder gap while getting a feel for the weapon, but boy I will be well aware of my left hand and finger placement when I hit the range with new revolver.
Man, I dont know what would be hurt worse... blown off finger part or eggo.

Welcome aboard Dave, glad to have ya! You picked a GREAT one for your first revolver, way to go!
I think our friend John Taffin had a good way of showing the proper way to hold a revolver with both hands...here he's using a scoped DW .44 for today's example.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
It's a great forum, I've already learned a ton of stuff by searching past posts. I've been following the reloading forums trying to pick up info, now that I have the SupperMag and have only been able to find ammunition for it at reedsammo.com with a 6-8 week lead time. I think it's time to get a Rockchuck, some dies and get down to business

Dave! Glad to have you on board. A 740-V8S was my first Dan Wesson, and now I have a bunch of them. Superbly accurate, milder recoil than a .44 Magnum, it is a tough gun to beat. Use 180-200 grain bullets, stay away from anything lighter. The gun was designed for silhouette competition with heavy bullets. When you get a chance, post some pics of that Model 40 for us.
CF, that is a great picture of a great revolver man. Thanks for posting it.

Mere words do not describe how beautiful your SuperMag is, but I'll try:
STUNNING!
I need to buy a blue revolver soon. As much as I shoot .22 lr, I think I'm going DW Model 22 next (and we know what a CRA I am), to go with the 722. I wonder how long that one on Rimfire Central will last?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
