Where was your gun made, Monson, Palmer or Norwich? That will narrow down its date better. I think most of the comp BA's were Norwich products so that would put the date at around 1990 or later.

Unless ba was changed at some time.
BTW I'm correct that 44 ba is useable on a 445, but shroud ejector slot is longer only ??

The 44 has a shorter slot and shorter ejector rod. To use a 44 shroud on a 445, you'd have to use a 44 mag ejector rod in order to close the cylinder.

I think Norwich is after 1996. By 97 Serva was producing guns in Norwich. Palmer was from 91 to 96 but in fact for the only thing that really changed for the large frames and supermags was the roll mark. They already were being made in Palmer. I am not sure but I think it has been mentioned on the forum that there is either 2 or 3 slots on the compensator depending on whether it is Palmer or Norwich.

I have a fixed barrel Palmer 44 mag with two comp slots. I think the removeable ones were three. It seems that comp BAs were more popular during the Norwich years for some reason. This is anecdotal as most of my comped guns are Norwich, and most I see for sale are also Norwich. That said, without real stats it's all conjecture on my part.
