So I've started the difficult hunt for gunleather for this 2.5" 14-2 I've got here.

Basically I'm looking for a leather, molded pancake holster for my DW. In hunting I'm finding that NOBODY makes exactly what I want … or at least they don't list one.

I'm picky. I despise cheap, "one size fits all" type leather (and Nylon "uncle Mike's" type holsters make me physically ill), so that makes this a bit more difficult. But I figure a holster made for a S&W would probably fit well enough that I can work with it, so do I need to look for a K frame or L frame holster (A K frame would be a model 19 or 66, whereas an L frame would be a 686

or 586)?

If I get a S&W molded holster it would be best to get whichever one is slightly smaller than the DW so I can stretch it into perfect shape (wrap the gun in plastic wrap … dunk the holster quickly in warm water … shove the gun into the holster and let it dry overnight with the gun in it). So if the S&W L frame is LARGER than the DW, I need to go K frame.

So far the only thing I've found that I think will work well is the Simply Rugged Sourdough

Not sure its molded enough though (and I'd love to find one with a body shield). But the price is real nice, and I happen to like the oxblood finish.

Anyone found that perfect CCW holster out there?

Eventually I'll probably buy a second set of clips and chicago screws to convert the pancake to IWB like I did with the pancake holster I carry my EDC piece (Steyr S40).

Yea,  it is tough to find anything listed for a DW, however I believe if it says it will work with a python it will work with your 14/15. Others here may have more info.

I have posted this guy's site before, he is a small one man operator but does a tremendous amount of conceal holster work, much of what he does is custom and not cataloged.  He built me a cross draw holster for an 8" VH supermag just last fall.  He uses real horsehide.

Tell him you were referred from the Dan Wesson guy he knows and maybe it would make a difference in the wait?  Maybe longerrofl

I emaild Rob at Simply Rugged and asked him if he can make a Sourdough for my 14-2.

His simple answer is; "we can do it"

So I'ma gonna order the Sourdough.

Oh boy! Just got an email saying my Sourdough has shipped!

So it should be hear by Monday. occasion

I also picked up a couple belt clips and a pack of chicago screws so the IWB conversion will happen right away as well.

I'll have to put together a complete review (with plenty of eight-by-ten color glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one is ... probably not twenty seven though).

I'm sure you already know this, but PICTURES WILL BE REQUIRED Laugh

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

OK Arlo "Guthrie" I think we got the PICTURE!!!

I also ordered one from the same guy, but a different style for the Charter Arms.  I'm expecting a shipping notice within the next week or two.  I'll also provide pics.

Dredging up an old thread....

Lucked into an original "Roy's Original" pancake holster last weekend at the flea market ($3 Laugh)....

It is marked 001 DB 2.5 -- which I assume is Diamondback.  The 14-2 is a little tight and the strap doesn't cover the hammer quite right.  I'm going to hold onto it in case I ever get Lil Dan.... maybe a good match.

i have the sourdough from rob for my 14-2 2.5" and it is great! i have the IWB loops but i think the clips would work better as they are not as bulky.  but i am 110% happy with his work!
