I have this idea that if I have a.22 revolver, I can convert it to a .32 Magnum by boring the cylinder and barrel.
The only hang up I see is with the firing pin strike location.
Ive had conversations with someone that has more experience than I that this can be corrected someway.
Does anyone know if it’s possible?
Thanks in advance.

The firing pin will need to be replaced, but the barrel will be your biggest problem. The frames have different threads to prevent the a code tal mix up of cali ers. Basically to prevent someone from trying to shoot a 32 down a 22 diameter tube. Now you could get a custom barrel tube made, but that's going to be costly and time consuming. Also, the 22 cylinder is shorter than the 32 a d 357 mag so you'll need a new one of those also.
So my answer is yes, it CAN be done BUT, the cost and complexity makes me wonder if it SHOULD be done. For what you'll spend, why not put that money towards a different gun?

For starters. The barrel is your biggest issue. You can't just scew in a 32 barrel tube. You'll need to have one made to fit your frame threads. Also, the cylinder is shorter on 22s than in the 33 and 357s, so you'll need one of those too.

So I sent my 22 LR barrel to get reamed and rebored to 32 cal. and I sent my cylinder to a different guy to get reamed to 32 mag and have it back. It is long enough.
I had the barrel guy redo a S&W 617 barrel and it shoots great.
I don’t have the barrel back yet as there is a 3 month backlog.
I believe both barrel and cylinder will work. I just need to figure out the firing pin problem, I think?

What did the barrel guy do to the 617, was it a caliber conversion too?

The S&W 617 is a .22 LR and he converted it to a .32 cal. I’ve had this done twice, once by a different guy that opened the bore up and inserted a liner and once by the other guy that rebored the barrel to 32 cal. Both shoot great.
I knew I had to use a different frame in the S&W, so I sourced a S&W 66 frame.
This one I was told I could use the same frame, as all the small frames were the same. Maybe I got some bad information?

Not sure there. I can post up a photo of both when I have a minute if you want.

I stand corrected on the firing pin...they are different. The .22 is a blade-type pin and the center fire is a pin-type, however, they are in fact located at different positions in the frame. Attached is a .22 and .32. If you bored everything on centers I'm not sure where the firing pin will hit. What about the extractor....what are you doing with that?
