GENTLEMEN.... Waldo Pepper mentioned to me that somewhere on the forum there is a tutorial on how to remove the crane and cylinder from the ejector rod..

can some one point me to it.. I tried the search function.. no luck..

maybe the search engine could be expanded to include "all or partial words in message" search ?

Anyway thanks..

Hey Panther,

I don't know where that tutorial is, but what I have done is soak down the ejector : extractor connection point with WD40 and let it set. -just fill up the center of the cylinder.

Later put the extractor rod in a  wood jaw vice so the wood is holding only the rod.  Then crank 'er down.  -or just put a couple pieces of wood in your vice with the ejector rod between 'em & crank it...

Rock the cylinder gently 'til it breaks free.  The diameter of the cylinder will give you more leverage than you need to break that little thread free, so go easy.

Dusty...thanks... but I must me dense.. your explanation didn't make sense to me..

I can't picture what your telling be to do with the extractor rod.. Is the cylinder somehow screwed onto the rod ?

Waldo told me there was a post that was very clear.. maybe even with drawings/pictures... I'm hoping Jody will be able to steer to to it..

What I'm trying to do is remove the side plate the the crane and I think then I can take the cyl. off the extractor rod.. It looks like it's held on with that pressed metal ring of sorts..

I'm kind of surprised there or  no exploded views of the guns being taken apart.. or did I mess them..

Wayne,

Here is a link to the assembly / dis-assembly instructions.  Hopefully that's what you are looking for...

https://www.danwessonforum.com/wp-content/uploads/DW%20Disassembly.PDF

This is listed under the Archive section at the top of the site.

Hey Panther,

sorry about that, I assumed you had the crane and cylinder out and couldnt' remove the ejectory rod / extractor.  Also, been away for a day and half…

Here is an excellent “How to Dissambley” for the 15-2: http://www.gunreports.com/special_reports/handguns/Dan-Wesson-Revolver165-1.html

If for any reason that doesn't open the report, go to http://www.gunreports.com and use the tabs to find Special Reports, then he either search or just scan the list to find “The Return of the Dan Wesson Model 15".

Hey landpanther1,

Those pages were scanned from the "The Gun Digest Book of Firearms Assembly/Disassembly Part 2: Revolvers, 2nd Edition" Book by J. B. Wood.  I found the book very useful and should suggest it for everyone's library.

supermag is the same as a large frame for disassembly.

Man I'm glad someone found the links, I looked several times and finally forgot about it and lp1 forgot to remind me about it.  When you're in mid sixties raising two and five year old grandsons memory is often frazzeled to say the least, some days I not sure what my name is, let alone what someone asked me to do, be it forum member or the wife. The latter one often has undesired results to say the least, so...... what were we talking about???
