Hi members, seeking some advice: I have a chance to get a 1994 DW 715 VH with 8 inch barrel for a price that sounds fair. When asking the seller for photos, all looked good except for two things I saw from the "top" angle..
First, looks like there's a little ding in the top edge of the rib about midway down on the right edge. Functionally it won't matter but I'm curious if anyone has any ideas on how to make a cosmetic repair in the ding so it wouldn't stick out like a door ding on a brand new car? I hate to turn it away and be too superficial, but I thought I would ask for feedback. The photos are what I have to work with from the seller: From the top it looks like the top edge got bumped, but from the side view (cropped and magnified) it does look like kind of a nasty chunk - would a hit hard enough to cause a chunk in the edge like this cause what I fear might be a bigger issue below?
Perhaps more concerning is that if you look at how the top back edge of the shroud butts up against the receiver, it looks as if the shroud is " off-center" .. Isn't the pin in the frame designed to keep the shroud perfectly centered? If the pin is broke off is it replaceable? Seems odd to me that it's off center as my other DW's are machined to such exacting tolerances, I have some concerns with the alignment here..and my gut tells me that chunk in the top edge might have something to do with the shroud alignment..looks like a clockwise twist of about 2mm.
Thanks in advance for suggestions!

I'd recommend emailing Bob at DW. Bob@cz-usa.com
He's refinished quite a few of my revolvers and fix other problems. He would be the guy to ask.
I don't think anything can be done to fix that ding. Scratches can be possible polished out but dings and CHUNKS are usually forever. The shroud is located by a roll pin. If the is broken off it is an easy thing to replace. Standard roll pin size. If broken off it is not hard to remove. With that being said, it does look crooked. I would not purchase the gun unless it is dirt cheap.
