i have a Norwich 357 Supermag "Maxi" with compensated barrel.  When the cylinder is closed, you can fairly easily rotate it with your fingers...barely any resistance on the lockup.  when you look at the lock, it's not centered on the notch in the cylinder.  I took it apart thinking maybe it was just gunked up in the mechanism, but it was pretty clean.  tested the lockup without the trigger group installed and it locks up tight, but once it's back together, the same thing.  Any suggestions?

also, any tricks to getting the Pawl and Safety back into the housing?  they're forced apart by a spring and it seems that they have to be held together when re-assembled.  i did it using a small piece of cardboard, but took me about 2 hours.  Everything functions as it should, except for the lockup issue.

thanks,

jeff

Look at post #8 in THIS THREAD for reassembly tips.

On my large frame DW's the cylinder will rotate with my fingers, using a bit of force. only one direction, though. I think it's due to the angled cut on the bolt, where it meets the slots in the cylinder. I haven't tried mine without the trigger group installed, I suppose once installed, it must pull down slightly.

You could always send the gun to DW & see if they can get it fixed up more to your liking.

I have the same issue with my model 41.

I' start with a strip down and cleaning of the internals.  It sounds like bolt spring is weak or the bolt is worn or plunger is damaged.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
