How is the spring tension on the ball ? Hard to tell but the ball looks rather recessed. Or the diameter of the hole in the ratchet star could be wallowed out increasing the diameter of the hole. Or both. Just take it to a good reputable gunsmith. It can be easily repaired if he can get the parts.

It's the design of the gun, nothing to worry about. Just means she has been shot but nothing extreme.
You could tighten your alignment ball but if you get it too tight then you will have problems closing up the cylinder .
The cylinder recoils backwards as the bullet rockets out
of the chamber hole. The heavier the load, the more she will recoil back.
NOTE: When I bought my first 15-2 I saw no signs of what your showing, after two thousand or more rounds it did, even more so than your picture. I had it reblued for
other reasons and now I have shot it maybe another thousand rounds or less since and it has yet to show the star impression .

"The hammering of the cylinder to frame , is the medal ball in the frame the cause of this? Is it not holding the cylinder when the bullet leaves the cylinder? Please explain. Why does the happen? Thanks"
I just noticed my 15-2 has this also. I was told it only had 1 or 2 boxes of ammo through it. Maybe the seller meant 1 or 2 cases.
I did notice the cylinder was hard to open, and there were rub marks on the face of the cylinder. The cylinder/barrel gap was really tight, could barley see any light where the .006 gap should have been.
Could these conditions cause this in a low round count gun?
thanks,

Jim, in my unoffical opinion , 1 to 2 boxes would not cause that.

I thought the same. I guess I'll need to take someone more experienced in revolver inspection with me the next time.
Of course hanging around here I'm getting a good education on the fine points of these guns.
