Can someone tell me how much a model 15 was in 1979 ? I bet the dollar worth
was not much different than charging 1k for a DW with todays dollar.

We have a lot of "original purchasers" in the serial number database; maybe Steve has some info.

I believe they were around $250. At a 3.5% annual inflation rate that would put it at around $750 in today's $.
I believe we are suppose to base our money on gold, but seeing how the dollar is being
borrowed on 1 to 9 debt ratio I am sure that is void. Any way in 1979 the oz. of gold
average was $306 and the Dec 2010 average is $1219 .....so you can see where
I am going here. If DW were $250 in 1979 they were not "cheap" by 1979 standards.
In fact if you were working for minimum wage ($2.90) at time or close to it , they
were out of your price range and you would be looking at a months wages for the
gun. Basically with todays $7.25 minimum wage, again, we have a months wages to
buy this 2010 DW715.
When you can buy a 15 for $300 like Steve said it is kinda hard to shell out 1K, but there
is the fact that if the popularity of these do not skyrocket, in about 20 years you will
able to afford one, the price will still be $1000 but we all should be averaging around
$3000 a week so that would be a steal.
I just don't know if I have that much patience .

My 15-2 Pistol pak was $400 with an extra Pach grip and box of ammo in 1986.
On a side note: unfortuantely for my sanity, I am VERY much inclined to follow with what Blacktop was saying ( ie the dollar dropping like a rock).
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.

April 1978 Pricelist shows the 15-2 VH6 at $272.20

My 15-2 6 (standard shroud) was a 1977 purchase, and although I do not have a receipt, I know it was less than $200.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

So all the 15-2's and 715's I can buy for $300 make sense? I repeat 401k-DW
It would be a big job, but it would be interesting to track the average selling price on GunBroker for both 15-2's and 715's each month through 2011, to see if there is an increase in selling price.

Anything over about $800, and I won't even think about getting one. If it's like 11-1200, that's about as much as I paid for all three of my present DW's plus the two extra barrels I've bought AND the two wrenches!
715-6VH 269.00 near new with three grips and box, etc (2005)
44-6VH 405.00 excellent (2009)
15-2 4"VH 325.00 Excellent (2010)
4"V SS barrel and shroud $65 (2008)
6"VH Barrel and shroud $155 (2010)
EWK small frame barrel wrench $27 (2010)
DW small frame barrel wrench $36
Total 1282.00
Don't see the sense in it.

As far as quality, the current machinery is from the Norwich plant and they got all new machines, as the Monson machines were used by Palmer and were already worn nearly out by then. CZ has a reputation for good quality control, so they should be up to CZ standards. I believe they'll be in the $1000 range comparable to the S&W of similiar size.
