Anyone buy one of the remakes? Anyone know if they are still available? I can't find a listing on their current product brochure, except mention at the very end where they are making general reference to revolver parts also.
I did find a link to the press release from November 2010 stating that the were being produced once more, and some general discussion and conjection on a few of the websites via a Google search.
I'd like to know how they rank compared to the previous builds, if they are still available, whether they can be purchased through a gun dealer in California (I found a link on Guns America for FFL dealers in Nevada and Arizona), and what the actual pricing ended up at?
I dearly want a 715 pistol pack one way or the other, whether an original kit, bought a piece at a time, or one of the new models if they are worth the cost.
Thanks folks!

Roger-
I handled one at the LGS quite a while ago, when they were first available. It was very finely crafted and finished. The most noticeable difference is the profile of the vent rib, rather than upright and square the rib was angled to the center, sort of a truncated pyramid.
At least one is/was owned on DWF, the review was generally pretty positive. Internally and functionally it is true to the original design. It is not offered in Pistol Pack configuration, and it does not seem to have been manufactured beyond the original production run. Due to the very high cost it was not well received in the marketplace.
I don't know all the details of CA availability, but I'm not sure the new one is CA compliant.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Thanks Steve. I understand that they now include a 'pistol pack'-type case that has the additional slots for the extra barrels, and I did see that the BAs are available on the CZ website so I could put one together.
I also found one listed on Guns America, but unfortunately (of course!) it is from a dealer in Florida.
I've been doing a lot of research this afternoon and evening, and it sounds like the new machining should be better than ever.
I guess I'll have to make a call to CZ and see what the scoop is on availability and applicability for California purchase, but I'm afraid I already know the latter.
I've also been reading up on the SSE specifics, but it doesn't appear to be very feasible for our revolvers. I'll do some searching here to see if I can turn up anything useful, but again not really optimistic.

Actually, I did find a good link here while searching yesterday for someone who did the SSE for a DW revolver, and it appeared to be surprisingly easy. That may be an alternative.
Far too busy today to make any calls, but hopefully some time this week I can do so and sort the real situation out.
Thanks!

I have one of the "remakes" of the 715. The one I have is a fine piece. To answer the question about the price, is it worth it? Well, honestly no it is too expensive for a .357. I did however want one for the collection anyway so the price became irrelevant in that quest. I did see some other threads that stated some of these had less than stellar finishes for the money, mine was done nicely though. I still see one show up on GB every now and then.
