I got my fist DW and the grips didn't fit the frame well. Also it had a lot of wobble when the screw was backed out enough to not impede the hammer operation. I bought some large pachmayr presentation grips and they fit perfectly. When taking the screw out of the old grips, I think there was some home gunsmithing at play. It had what appeared to be a finish nail cut and bent around the grip screw to keep it from coming out the grip. It also has some wire coiled around the screw, I assume as a spacer between the head and the wood. There was no washer present. I placed the screw into the pachmayr grip without a washer and it tightened up perfectly and hammer operates as it should. Could these grips be off a large frame revolver? Where do I find a grip screw washer for a reasonable price? Hardware store didn't have any washers that would fit the screw and go into the grip hole without grinding material off the washer.
Here is a picture of the wood grips on the revolver.

I'm probably going to order the spring kit from EWK. If I do I may just order their grip screw kit.
Any idea if this is the wrong grip for this pistol?
i initially thought the grip had maybe just warped, but the cutout is too big for the frame at the bottom. It seems like it was made for a thicker frame.

Large frames have a round grip tang and the grips would have a round whole on the part that slides over the frame. the bottom hole will always be round. Small frames are square grip tang , square hole in the grip top! hope this helps.shoot a pic of the grips from the top and then we will all know!

Hard to tell from pictures but the grip appears to have been worked on. Notice the corners where the frame fits the grip. Not normal on a DW grip that I have ever seen. It appears to be a small frame grip that someone has worked on, possibly it shrunk or warped and someone tried to fix it. Or someone may have tried to adapt it to a large frame then realizing it would not work returned it to the small frame. The whole thing with the finish nail and wire tells us someone was trying to make something work that didn't. Just my opinion from a few pictures. My recommendation rescue the medallions then use the grip for a target next time out. Just my thoughts. It is yours to do as you see fit.
Edit: A new picture was added as I typed. Yes that started life as a small frame grip then someone worked on it making it what it is today.
