BTW I also have this on another forum(or 2 or 3 lol) trying to get a consensus of if this is a good deal or not..the worst that happens is I take it off lay away and probably lose a few bucks. Ok well here is todays doings

I was walking around of all places Gander Mountain today stopped in on the way back from some AM fishing(only caught some Perch). I dont often look in there unless its something on sale. But I just happened to be back at the gun counter when I saw a familiar sight A Dan Wesson..it is a 15-2 Monson made 6" barrel with the orange sight insert and the vent barrel rib. Lockup was good. There was a slight binding which I believe is someone has the barrel snugged up way too tight against the cylinder(know this can happen as ive accidentally dont that to my current 15-2 when setting the barrel gap).

Looked to be in real good shape, had the wood grips VS my guns Rubber ones and a 6" vent rib barrel VS my "plain" 4" one. I kinda had to do a double take when I saw the $229 price tag. When the counter guy finally got over to me I asked to see it and asked if it had any case or tools with it(at the price I didnt expect it would ) he said no just the gun. So since I didnt have the $$ on me to buy it straight out I put it on lay away

Did I do good with $229 price tag on it in real nice shape but with no tools(which I already have BTW for my current one).

Now im debating taking both to range when I get this off lay away in the next 2-3 weeks and making sure the new one shoots well(i know the 4" one is fine) and then selling one...or maybe just keeping both dont know..well anyways what do you think??

Nah, you got hosed! I'll take it off your hands for $250, just to help out.

Well, I had to try!

You're going to come out of that one very well.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

buy-nowSounds like a good deal to me.

I saw two DW 22s at a local gun show yesterday, both blue one 4" one 6" standard barrels.  Neither gun was too sharp, cheapest one was $400, the 6" was $509.  I'd say $229 for a nice 15-2 is a good deal.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

This one amazingly is really pretty clean its got a slight bit of the usual purpling they get with some age but no pits or gouges no dings one slight scratch on the cylinder side(side with the access panel for the inner workings). But I think it may actually be even in a bit better shape than the one I already have thats a 4" oh and the barrel rifeling looked good sharp and clean also.

$229 for a gun in good shape is a great deal in my opinion. Especially when it is local to you, and you can check it out before you buy as opposed to Gunbroker etc.

I would have bought it at that price, and I already have 2 15-2s.

The reason they CAN go so inexpensively is because the seller does not know what a great, desirable revolver a DW can be. Unfortunately, the marketplace is getting smarter and the good prices (like yours) are rapidly becoming a thing of the past.

When you can buy one at that price, you just do it.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

And I do believe it's a keeper. This was at 24 feet with the 8" barrel using PMC 125 gr. JHP. The 2.5" barrel was almost as good. (I forgot to bring an Allen wrench for windage and elevation, but I was just seeing how it grouped)

$229 is a good price, I see them for well over $400 for 6" Non VRHB models. I paid $175 for mine but that was 18 years ago.

Yeah this one was the Vent rib red insert 6" model now im thinking of a nice set of custom grips for it :) . Stuff has been conspiring against me getting to the range but I need to get it out, cleaned, gapped properly as the last owner didnt have a clue what he had and had the barrel screwed down pretty tight causing some binding against the cylinder just need to take it off clean it up re-gap and should be good to go.
