Hi all,
My father has a 14-1 .357 with the rear sights machined into the frame and the "pork chop" type barrel shroud. This pistol is back from his younger years and has pretty much stayed in his closet for 20+ years. Growing up he told me stories about it and his times where he used it. We were recently discussing home defense and he actually brought it out of hiding to show it to me and honestly I was very surprised that it was in extremely good shape.
Now that he is up there in years he is wanting to use it for home defense. The problem is that his eye sight is not the best especially in the dark.
Now my question. I want to do something nice for him and wanted to get him a crimson trace laser grip for his revolver. Will any of their grips work for his pistol? I am looking at their Lg-314. It looks like the shape of the frame will work but I want to be sure. Its states its for an N frame round butt. I tried talking him into getting a new revolver butt he is of the mindset that it doesn't make sense to buy an item he already has. Any help would be appreciated.
PS- This forum is great. I have learned so much about Dan Wesson revolvers in one afternoon.

You do realize, I hope, that the Lg 314 is a whole grip and cannot be used on your DW. The Smith uses two grips, one on each side, the Dan uses a one-piece grip.
You Might be able to excise the laser and somehow fasten it to your DW grip, or you could have someone make a custom grip for you integrating the laser.
BTW, welcome to the DWF.

The options for this are, unfortunately, largely non existent. With a LOT of work you might be able to rig something that might work, but reliability and function would be pretty haphazard. Outside of drilling and tapping the shroud to accept a Picatinny rail that will accept a clamp-on laser...
Not gonna work for Dad, I think. I appreciate his connection to his Dan Wesson, but it sounds like he might be best served by another solution.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
