After owning the 7460 for almost a year and a half my son and I finally took it to the range today. We sure have been missing quite a blast by waiting so long. I still have not gotten around to actually loading some 460 rowland for it, but we had plenty of 45 Win. Mag rounds for the afternoon. We shot at 25-yards two hand hold style freehand, no bags and man was this revolver accurate. Both of us were able to hold nice 3" - 4" groups with a gun we had never fired before. We had the 4" VH comp barrell on it and the comp really tamed the recoil. It is very comparable to a stout 357 mag in terms of blast and recoil. The trigger is match level with almost no overtravel issue. Very good sights and they were almost dead on at the beginning. I know this caliber gets much disregard, but had it been more widely distributed and into the hands of more DW shooters I am sure it would have caught on very well as it yielded great accuracy, pleasant shooting and a whole lot of fun. More to come when I finally load some 460's for it.

Cool!
I have a question, I had never heard of the 460Rowland cartrige before I joined this site, does anybody know what it was designed for? Was it kinda special to Dan Wessons, or did other pistol manufacturers chamber guns for it too?
Thanks, just curious

It was offered for a drop in kit to model 1911's as its original purpose. It is an extended 45ACP Win Mag case for more fire power out of a 1911. DW decided to make an offering in a revolver based on who knows why? Nonetheless they did it. Search Gun Broker for Rowland , they did have a pair of 1911's on there you could look at. If you search the caliber I believe Taffin has a test on it as well to read over the caliber creation and purpose.

Now you guys have done it. I now have to have a .460 Rowland kit for my Kimber. Rats -- more expensive ammunition.
Big bang, big bang.

Mike,
More than happy to help . Might still cost less than shooting the Wildey though considering the 350 Grain box of factory ammo that just sold for $293.00 over the weekend

Yes Phil, that really was astounding.
BTW, if you have a chance, please back off your gas check and count the clicks until the control just touches the slide and let me know how many clicks. Jim Dolson says I have way too many clicks dialed in and that's what's causing the extractor to bend the rim of each cartridge.
Thanks,
-Mike
