Would the 9mm drop to fit in the 357?
Interesting that you should say that, Dave. I'm expecting the cylinder to show up at least by Wednesday of this week. I received an email from TK Customs and he said that the cylinder was on its way back via Priority Mail along with 10 moon clips. If that is the case, I'll be doing a range report this coming Friday/Saturday. Stay tuned. DW41F.

Well, folks, all I can say, "it is here...IT IS HERE!!!" The cylinder made it back from TK Customs safe and sound. There is some "bad" news and their is definitely good news and the good news outweighs the bad!
First off, I eagerly ripped open the box. The cylinder was modified to accept full moon clips supplied by TK Customs. The bad news is that my half moon 9mm clips did not work. But considering what I found out next, it didn't matter.
First, I reinstalled the modified cylinder and tried out the 9mm. Needless to say, it fit like a glove! I tried putting in a 9mm Lugar round without the clip...no joy. It fell into the modified chamber. So apparently, the 9mm round now headspaces on the rim just like the 38 and 357 magnum rounds.
Now for the good news, or even better (I should say): the cylinder retains its ability to chamber 38/357. So now instead of having a dedicated cylinder for 9mm, the cylinder has the full utility of 3 different rounds. Isn't that sweet?
I'm still eager to see what differences that can be had between shooting 9mm v. 38/357 from this modified model 14 cylinder. My hope is that the 9mm retains reasonable accuracy in comparison to the 38/357 rounds. Here are the pictures. This weekend will be a test fire for the TK Custom cylinder using both 38 and 9mm cartridges. Stay tuned! Yes, I know , so I am attaching two photos to show the "new" setup.

Sweet deal, now you have me wondering how much mod had to be done?
Hello again, Dave. The modification involved machining only part of the face of the cylinder to allow for the moon clips. The strength of this modification is that a portion of the cylinder that supports the original 38/357 rim is retained to provide the needed headspace for these cartridges. The moon clip allows for the 9mm ctg to headspace off of the head. This is interesting considering the 9mm normally headspaces off of the case mouth.
So, to answer your question, just enough mod to make this cylinder retrofit worth while! DW41F.

Between the recent moves and getting settled into my new abode, I'll report shortly on the project. So far, I have been busy with other pressing projects. But my curiosity is starting to get the best of me. I realize that if this is successful at the range, this will be a boon for the rest of you who want a add a different round for their respective DW wheelguns. Stay tuned! DW41F.
