new to the forum and new to dan wessons, revolvers for that matter. im looking to but a dan wesson 357 6in bbl. i know nothing about them and neither does my buddy i might be buying it from.

the problem is when the trigger is pulled quickly on an empty cylinder (i know its naughty im checking the thing out) the cylinder spins 2 to 3 chambers more. it sort of free spins but when you try to rotate the cylinder by hand it wont move. hes offering it to me for 100 dollar. could it cost more than its worth to buy and have fixed or should he just have it scrapped?

Welcome to the forum. Geez, a Dan for $100. I'd buy it now. I have very little idea what's wrong with it, but there's not a whole lot in there. Does it lock up well? I'd start simple, a good cleaning. While you are in there you can hopefully tell if somebody butchered a trigger job. I'll guess it is so dirty something isn't moving right. If you don't want it, I'll take it.

But it now -- could be as simple as a stuck cylinder bolt.

BIN, we'll talk you through the rest.  I'm w/ Shoot; it's probably something to do w/ the bolt/ spring/ keeper.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I'm with these guys, for $100 definitely buy it. Dans are built sturdy and simple in my opinion and very serviceable. And several members on here I think are the best Dan Wesson tuners you can find, they will work you through it.

I'm betting it is just very dirty inside or might need a spring or 2.

Man, that's a gtdw for sure!

I'm with these guys, get it home & pop the side cover off, it may just need a good scrubbing to get it feeling well again.goodluck

Buy it.  I just went through the same with a 44VH.  Took it apart. It was so clean, there was no oil. I very lightly oiled the bolt, reassembled, and its perfect.
