Hello all, I was hoping for some help with a revolver I bought years ago from a friend at work. That was about 22 years ago. I didn’t know anything about it, but wanted a 357 magnum revolver. I think I paid $160.00 for it. It has I believe a 3” barrel, stainless steel, rubber grips and on the barrel it says 357 Magnum CTG, on the right side of the frame it says Wesson Firearms, Palmer, Mass. USA, and the serial number. It has never been shot, but I have kept it oiled, now I would like to start shooting it at a local range, since we have one now. No model number anywhere, so if someone can tell me if this is a Dan Wesson firearm, maybe when it was made and would it be safe to shoot now. I posted a couple of pictures for identification. Thanks for any info. And maybe what it might be worth today.

No biggie. I would hardly say that 715's are rare but Palmer ones I'm sure are in lesser #'s only because they didn't operate there nearly as long as Monson or Norwich. Other than the box, an owners manual, some papers, a barrel tool and gauge were about the extent. I'm sure the others that know way more than I do of the DW revo's will be along to tell you all you need to know!

Welcome to the Forum!
Very nice looking Dan Wesson. Should be a great shooter. Excellent self-defense weapon. You will enjoy shooting it. Value will not be reduced by shooting it.
A box and some paperwork is about the extent of accessories. Not especially collectible, but a damn nice firearm.
If you browse and search the forum you will find all kinds of information on DW's.
Give us a Range Report when you shoot it.

Welcome to the DW Forum I call the DW Madhouse. It seems most of us have a disease known as DWCS, Dan Wesson Collectors Syndrome, so we enjoy new patients coming into the Madness.
That is a beautiful revolver. I hope you enjoy shooting it.
I do have a question for you. Is it a 3" barrel or a 2 1/2" and if you look in the end of the barrel do you see a nut in the shroud?
If it's a 2 1/2" it probably has an exchangeable barrel. 3 inch, or any odd number other than 15" is usually a fixed barrel revolver.
Good luck with it.

Welcome to the from central IL. Very nice Dan ya got there, doesn’t even have a noticeable turn-line on the cylinder!!! Definitely have to give us a range report.
BTW, this is what a interchangeable barrel looks like at the muzzle. They have a recessed nut that is removable by using a special tool. They are available from CZ/Dan Wesson web site (called “Webstore” on their site) at: https://shop.cz-usa.com/
