I had yet another guy contact me today asking about a ".22 insert" for his Dan Wesson .357. He said it was an option at the time he purchased it to get the ".22 insert", but he didn't and is looking for one.
Another guy I talked to said he had a "Dan Wesson .22" and the barrel tubes interchange between it his .357's. About the only thing I could get out of him was it was an early one.
I'm hoping to hear back from the guy today to see if he has any actual literature where its describing the multiple calibers on one gun...
Anyone know anything about this mystery if there are indeed some "from the factory" dual caliber Dans?

My bet goes on there was no such thing. In order to do that they'd need a pin system similar to that used in the S&W 53 which converts the centerfire .22 Jet to 22lr rimfire. The mod. 53 also used chamber inserts for the Jet to lr conversion. Maybe they were thinking of that firearm and got it confused with DW. Highly doubtful there's any literature on it since it's probable that it never existed!
However, there is one revolver that does convert rimfire to centerfire - the Janz JTL-S (which I would love to own someday but the cost of the full system runs upward of $30k). It appears that the the lr chambers are offset in the cylinder so that the position of the pin can remain stationary. I'm not sure though how they line up the center of the bore in the barrel tube with the offset chamber.
Eric......how are they doing it??

Right on, with the liability, and from a working standpoint of being centerfire/rimfire capable without extensively modifying the basic DW design, I have a hard time seeing it too...just strange there has been more than one contact me about this.
Willy, I remember seeing that kit on ebay, and that was a non-DW made setup.
Harly, that would be interesting to see how the barrel installs with the offset .22 cylinder! It looks like the barrels shown just have threads on them, and they all look the same (none with smaller threads, as in if there would be an insert that would go in first in the frame that would be offset and indexed to the cylinder offset)

Anything is possible. I have a convert a pell (.177") for my 4" .357mag. Just step out on the deck and plink away...
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Every time we think that "there's NO WAY that ever happened" seems like something pops up that says otherwise.
I still need to say that a viable, safe, liability free, .357>.22 lr conversion in DW just cannot happen at any kind of realistic cost or function.
If someone discovers this particular "Holy Grail", good on ya, Mate!
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
