Just picked up what I believe is a 14-1 (fixed rear sight and porkchop shroud). Is there a difference between the shroud for a 14 and a 15, I guess main difference would potentially be height of the front site? Will post a pic once I get my hands on it for good (NJ stupid paperwork).

Which 15 (15 or 15-1, both porkchops)? I believe the 15 and 15-1 utilize different front sight heights (as well as different fully adjustable rear sight assemblies), just as the 14 and the 14-1. I'm under the belief that a 14 sight height is the same (or close enough) to the 15 sight height, and these are the tallest of all the small frame front sight heights. I don't know whether the 14-1 and 15-1 have the same height, or if in fact there are three different small frame front sight heights (assuming that the 15-1 and 15-2 are the same, otherwise that makes 4 different heights). I also do not know of what possible variations exist within each model across the different barrel lengths (i.e. was there a conscious attempt to provide a different POA/POI for the shorter barrels compared to the longer barrels?). Obviously, what I don't know is a lot more than what I think I do knowso maybe this is all just noise.
Now, the front sights are pinned, so one can remove the pins and put in different front sights (not as easy as the 14-2 or 15-2) but the location of the pin hole in the sight relative to the shroud might not be the same across the models.
And in discussing sight heights, one must reference the height to the centerline of the barrel (bore), anything else will be ambiguous and confusing.
I will tell you what I know for a fact and what I believe to be the case. Model 11 and 12 shrouds are the same lenght as 14,14-1,15 and 15-2. The barrels of the 11 and 12 are 2 1/2, 4, + 6" while the others are 1/4" shorter. You cannot use a 11 or 12 shroud on a later porkchop because there is no room to put an interior barrel nut. I do believe you could use a 2 1/2, 4, or 6" barrel on a later porkchop if you use an exterior nut. The nuts used to be made out of sintered unobtanium but now the Wessons make them on a CNC machine. You would be able to use the same barrels that are used on the 14 and 15-2's. That is what I know. I THINK that fixed sight models have shorter front sights than adjustable sight models regardless of whether they be 11 through 14-2. Lastly, I think 14 and 15 BA'S are indistinguishable from 14- 1and 15-1.
The fixed sight guns have progressively taller front sights as the barrels get longer. The adjustable sight porkchops have taller front sights I believe for their respective barrel lengths. Therefore a 12 or 15 would not work on an 11 or 14. I think there were some differences in the rear fixed sights in the 14 and 14-1 and the adjustable rear sights were different too. Some folks would file a front sight if the gun was shooting low but with Dans the barrel is an entity by itself and may be used on another gun. A better method would be nail polish or fluorescent paint to mark the spot on a front sight that is too tall. A shroud that is altered, ceracoted, painted, rusted, abraided, etc has a MUCH reduced value. I would opt for the easily removed nail polish. If you are using a fixed sight shroud on an adjustable sight frame you might use the polish on the rear sight.
