Hello all,
I'm planning on buying a new barrel for my 44. I'm looking at either a 6" or 8", leaning toward a 6". I've read an article here about the compensated series, and it states that there is no loss in accuracy or velocity in these revolvers. I assume that this applies to the barrels that CZ is selling.
I've heard that accuracy and velocity are sacrificed with this type of barrels from other manufactors, and in rifles. Does anybody here have ballistics comparing a DW compensated barrel and VH barrel? Have you noticed a difference in accuracy?

44Wit; Welcome aboard!
I don't have numbers crunched only some thoughts and experience.
BLUF: No noticeable difference.
Sure there is a difference in fps when compared to an uncompensated barrel of the same length. But I would imagine it's less than 30fps- negligent to the average shootist. Standard deviation can be that high. Any difference in accuracy can be overcome through good load development as accuracy is much to do about barrel harmonics- everything else being equal.
I speak from a hunter's perspective because that's what I do. As long as my groups are in the vitals for the selected distance- I'm accurate. Which brings me full circle- for me there is no noticeable difference.
Best Regards,
Ron

I saw a comparison between 6 or 7 factory ammo's & there was a slight difference in velocity, but the odd thing is that one brand would show higher numbers on a compensated barrel & another brand showed higher numbers for a standard barrel. The averages for all of them didn't really end up favoring one over another.
The only for sure thing that's different between a standard & compensated barrel is that you must take the compensated barrel & shroud apart for cleaning routinely, whereas the standard barrel doesn't require this step.
