Interesting,Ol'Dog. A very timely response, as l was gonna refinish em over the weekend and probably ruin them. They did look a little odd....oh well. In the drawer they go. Guess I'm now looking for an old naked pork chop. Thanks for the information.

good info from ole dog, and they are "early on" when we were there in 73 they y were already changing, seems like some carry over from the HoighSatnadard days,,,others like Colt called theirs "Coltwood" and Ruger early Bearcats of 1958 were "Wonderwood" ,,poured polymers to make them appear to be wood, good early grips to hang onto, may become "collectible" to some........heck back then they even had blocks of wood, just "Inletted" to fit the frame of the gun and you could make your own shaped wood grips....some like that smaller grip you show, also for the short barreled ( 2 1/2 inch) guns for "carry"
