Curiosity question really.

Seller says a 715 is double action only? Did DW make a double action only gun? I've sent the seller an email so I'll see how he responds.
PS. If somebody wants it, go for it. I'm not going to bid (unless I win the lottery).

That's the first I heard about a double action only, I doubt that is correct since the whole purpose of an exposed hammer (serrated for grip) is for single action firing. The pics arent too clear but the stainless looks like somebody went over it with sandpaper or something, it just doesn't look factory. And the grips look refinished kinda rough (with an emblem in upsidedown).
I don't know, could be a gun with issues, that's too much for a potential project in my opinion. But maybe I'm just pessimistic.

Yes DW made some double action only guns. However I believe they were all the PPC or Action Cup models. If I were to venture a guess I would say this one is a 715 with the grip screw in to far preventing the hammer from locking back.. But I am guessing of course. Others may know more about the DAO thing.

Ah, you might have a point LB, with the grip screw maybe interfering. And I forgot about the PPC /Action Cup models. Be interesting to see if the seller can explain his DAO theory.

The seller gave me two responses.
"no, they made them only double action early in the making, you can google and find out, it works fine, but MADE only double action."
"here is from a blog
Dan Wesson 357 Magnum CTG Mod D11
I just picked up this fine example of Wesson's work. It's a six-shot double action only that has seen very little use. The serial # inside the crane is 524X......
The piece is in fine condition, cylinder has little or no side-play.
Anyone have an idea of the value of this piece?

I'm trying hard not to tick the guy off. I asked him to try loosening the grip screw. I'll let you know how he responds.
Maybe I've worked too long for attorneys but to me a 715 wasn't one of the early Dans. Maybe he is saying early 715's were DA only. I'm guessing he really doesn't know and that the gun needs a good cleaning and to have the grip screw loosened.

I see the seller ended the auction early, maybe since you told him how to get it functioning right he decided to keep it.

I hope so. As you pointed out, somebody, most likely him, has been working on that one. He was truly appreciative to have it working. Think I'll send him one more email, encouraging him to check out the forum. Thanks again to all who enlightened me on DA only and the grip screw possibility.
