The gun that put DW on the map!
15-2 6" standard shroud, the very same place I started with shooting (my very first gun!) so many years ago
Two things for you to do:
1) PM me with the Serial Number, I will get your year of manufacture
2) Include your mailing info and I will send you a front sight, yours is missing the colored insert, and that is just WRONG
Actually a third thing to do
3) Get the EWK barrel tool (right sidebar), it's SO worth it!
Steve
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Looks good and Steve has you covered on the front sight. x2 on the EWK barrel wrench. My only comment is ensure you shoot full house .357 ammo and not the girly .38 amm.... oh, wait, sorry about that. For real this time- I'm not certain what size your hands are- you may want to keep your eyes out for a combat or gripper set of shoes. Or better yet, have lb make a set for you!
Nice score- have fun!
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Looks perfect to me. So you did end up with a removable barrel and shroud. Did you point that out to the salesman?
I can't tell from the picture, but is your front sight missing the plastic insert?
Nathan
Yes, it's a removable barrel and shroud and has a real pretty red insert in the front sight. It has a slight cylinder ring and and light markings where the cylinder rotates out of the gun, (or is >action< the right word ?) everything else looked and felt perfect.

The colored insert is red and isn't showing up very well against the red background, but it's there and is real pretty Why do I need the EWK barrel tool? I only have one barrel, oh....I think I get it, to properly take it apart for cleaning, I need the tool. Or, is that the next stage of owning a Dan, I'm gonna come down with DWAS? What a coincidence that your first Dan is like the one that is my first Dan

Ron's right about the accessories. Right here we have as members LB Custom grips and EWK Arms. I own 3 LB grips and they are great. EWK has a whole bunch of stuff for your Dan. You really should get the barrel tool for a number of reasons. While you are there check out the barrel gauge and wrench set as well as the fiber optic front sights.
That's a nice clean looking 15-2 you have. If you shoot .38 special a lot be sure to really scrub out the cylinder. You can get carbon deposits that can make loading .357 difficult, if not impossible.
Enjoy it. It will probably one of the most accurate handguns you will shoot. BTW, you already have . It may be dormant at the moment, but you have it! (beware of getting bit by the stainless bug )
To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:
if you find one...what's your plan?

Your going to love shooting this gun. It may seem big and heavy but when held with both hands and sighting down that barrel you will forget all about it.
I like shooting light loads for target and practising. Learn handloading and make your own loads.
Like Bruce says if you use 38's pay attention to the chambers in the cylinder.
Imma gonna use 357 cases using wadcutters to help with that.
My wife loves her 22 DW and can do quite well with it shooting double action.
She'll be working her way up to full fledged 357 loads
That thing about wanting another DW once you get one is true.
If things go right there is a 357 pak coming to roost here soon.
Nice piece, Gloria, enjoy!
Endeavor to persevere,
Press on regardless.
Need little, want less, love more.

Why didn't you say grips! I don't speak 'gun' as well as you guys, but I'm learning I've already thought about getting some Hogue grips for it.

Thank you very much, Ron...Do you think lb might have a custom bag to match my Dan along with the custom combat shoes?

Thank, you. That's a lot of good info for me. What would be the difference in recoil between 38 and 357 relating to Dans? I've shot a Ruger 357 but it's a much lighter gun compared to my Dan. I didn't find the recoil to be too much, but it had checkered wooden grips and they made my hand red and feel raw. I can't wait for some Going tomorrow!
