I am inclined to dry fire rim fires less than center fires but if you have a dry fire cartridge; no harm on either. Others will chime in shortly.
Of course, I'm referring to dry fire practice. The occasional dry fire won't hurt either one.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

From the manual page 5
Before firing, practice with your revolver UNLOADED to develop stance, aim and trigger control. The Dan Wesson revolver may be dry fired (functioned without cartridges) to develop your shooting skills without any damage to the revolver. Dry firing is NOT recommended for .22 caliber revolvers.

Dry firing just means pulling the trigger without a round in the chamber. Great way to practice trigger control but possible damage to the firing pin and or other lockworks as no resistance is encountered. As above, the owner's manual for DW states it' OK for centerfire weapons but not for rimfire. I always use "snap cap" dummy cartridges for dry fire practice as they protect the mechanism and eliminate any nagging concerns.

Yes it will. I also do not like dry firing rimfire guns without a case in the chamber. I also do not normally store my Buckmark cocked (although I know I can) so I put a fired case in the chamber and drop the hammer.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
