You can get an unfluted cylinder from Dan Wesson. You'll have to check with them on the cost as it would be a custom made unit.
I don't know of anything that makes a DW cylinder special when compared to a S&W. However, the DW revolver is very special when compared to a S&W. It's inherently more accurate due to the fact that the barrel is held in tension which reduces whipping. The gun is also very customizable by changing grips and barrel assemblies and even sights. This just makes it more fun and more personal.
BTW, to the .
Hope you enjoy your new Dan and our sight.

I sent it to them last week of January. I had them change my 357 SS cylinder for a unfluted Blue/Blk cylinder, clean and send it back. You must pay in advance, although they don't charge ur acct or cash ur check until work is done. total was $302 with return shipping including old cylinder.IMHO, worth it. I have an 8"vh bbl on it with blk grips. Looks awsume.good LuckTWO44

Welcome Doc,
The cylinder itself is not that special, perhaps you are referring to the fact that the cylinder latch is in front of the cylinder and on the crane versus being in the frame at the rear. DW's are very strong ( not that smiths are not) and durable, with seemingly less issues from things such as forcing cone wear and cracking (some models of smiths).
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.

That cost seems very reasonable, and I think the unfluted cylinders are very good looking.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

forgot 2 explain that i could not take off the grip after buying the frame from gunbroker months b 4. it was rubber. DW got it of and cleaned everything up just fine. have not fired it yet, but look forward 2 doing so real soon. asked LB to make a special grip for me and can't wait to rec'd it.TW0

thanks all for the input, i love my dan wesson 15-2, it is by far the most accurate handgun i have ever shot. i have a custom barrel shroud that is almost finished and thought that an unfluted cylinder would look awesome with and wanted to know how to go about getting one. thanks again!
