Well, I took my Dan Wesson 15-2 apart for a good cleaning last night and discovered that the washer on the grip attachment screw is missing. The gun functions fine without it when using the factory target grips, but when using the the Hogue rubber grips without the washer, it has the expected SA hammer problem.

Can anyone supply me with the proper dimensions for this washer?

thanks in advance,

Huffy

Go to your local hardware and check out the nylon washers.  They will have one that will fit.  I had that issue with one of my original DW grips and that was the solution.

BTW, it will only cost about 10 cents.

Thanks, Mike. The fact that it's nylon is big help. How thick is it?

I use #6 standard washers from Home Depot, they measure 0.031" thick X 0.350" OD X 0.172" ID.

Thank you very much, Mister callan. That's exactly the kind of information I was looking for!

Hmm, mine doesn't have the washer either, but I have no problem with my Hogue grips.

Grip "fitment" is sort of an art. The thing to remember is that the grip screw is really there to keep the grip from falling off. The tang running most of the length of the grip provides a lot attachment to the gun.

Most of the time, I have trouble getting the grip off the gun AFTER I remove the grip screw.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
